Autumn Celebration of Colour, Music & Heart
Cathy and Pete’s wedding at Hilltop Country House was everything I adore about autumn weddings in Cheshire. Warm, energetic and full of life from the very first moment. I arrived just as Cathy pulled up for the ceremony and the entire atmosphere immediately felt electric. The setting, wrapped in rich autumn tones and Hilltop’s incredible red wisteria, couldn’t have been more perfect.
Their ceremony, led by celebrant Emma, was beautifully emotional — the kind where you can feel every guest fully present in the moment. Cathy, an incredibly talented illustrator, had designed all of her own wedding stationery, bringing so much personality and detail into the day. You can see her work here: cathyillustration.com
The celebrations quickly kicked off after the ceremony. Instead of champagne, they served espresso martinis and Guinness, which fit their vibe perfectly and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The whole day carried this fun, spirited energy - the kind that comes naturally when you have a lot of Irish guests and a family of musicians in the room.
We slipped away for portraits, wandering through the grounds and making the most of the late-autumn colour. The portraits were relaxed and natural. Walking, laughing, soaking up the moment. The sky decided to gift us the most extraordinary sunset. Pink, bright orange, glowing light everywhere. Absolutely breathtaking!
When the dance floor kicked off, it didn’t stop for a single moment. The music, the energy, the singing, the laughter. It was wild in the best possible way, and such a joy to document. Their sparkler exit later that night was the perfect finale, and I was honoured that one of those sparkler images went on to win an award!
Cathy and Pete were a dream to photograph. Energetic, warm, organised, full of joy, and completely in the moment all day long. I couldn’t be happier to finally share their beautiful Hilltop Country House wedding.

The staff do everything they can to make sure their couples are fully looked after while staying beautifully in the background.
